How would you like to keep a "talent" that could help or hurt society hidden but discover that evil doers have figured it out and are after you? That is what happens in TRUE TALENTS by David Lubar, a 2008 Quick Pick for Reluctant Readers.
Trash (Eddie) awakens disoriented. He finally figures out that he has been kidnapped. After escaping his kidnapper, Bowdler, a psychic connection Trash has with his other "talented" friends, manages to get them together. Then with this "psychic pull" the friends gather in Philadelphia and work together to help the catch the "bad guys."
What are their talents? Trash has the talent of moving things with his mind. His other friends can read people's minds, torch things, find lost items, predict the future, and tell a person's true feelings. In the process of keeping Trash free from Bowdler, the boys meet a grown man (Thurston) that also has a "true talent". Good overcomes evil once again!!
Great book for boys! Each chapter is short and quick. Boys love things to do with unexplainable things, so this will intrigue them.
